All models can also now be equipped with a navigation system and a heated windshield, and the optional rear entertainment screen now has a larger viewing area.

Ford has also added some clever power-retractable running boards, although this option is available only on the higher end Eddie Bauer and Limited models, at present.

As you can see, the 07 Explorer has benefited from a few, if not many, creature comfort additions. However, the ride and drive feel of the vehicle remains the same. I was pleased to see that Ford had not tried to change this, as the Explorer is perfectly comfortable for everyday use, but come the weekend, can tow a 7,000lb trailer with total ease and confidence.

That is what makes, and what will continue to make, this vehicle a firm favorite with those who require a good tow vehicle, or even just a roomy, safe transporter for their family.

Now obviously, there will still be those who say "But why does anyone need a vehicle of that size, and what about the fuel consumption"? Well, the fact is that some people do need vehicles like this and always will, and although that might not please everyone, it is basically a true statement.

On the other hand, think of it this way...towing a sail boat down to the lake with the husband, wife, and 3 or 4 kids on board for the family vacation still burns less fuel, and does an awful lot less environmental damage than flying them overseas on holiday by plane (and it keeps their money being spent in our country!).

You see, there is always more than one way to look at something!
