2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe
Still, I had the vehicle for a whole week, and so what if I required a visit to the orthopedic surgeon afterwards, I was going to put this vehicle through its paces because that’s just the kind of professional I am.
Well, it’s a CTS all right, and it does everything like you’d expect it too. The power is all there, and with AWD to boot, it hugs the road like a demon. What’s more, and I hate to admit this, but I’m tempted to say that it does it better than its four-door stable-mate!
Braking is spot on, as is the suspension setup, which blends old-school comfort with road-holding agility. The steering is light, but without any of that old floating feeling which the old models were famous for. Basically, it does everything right, and makes you feel pretty darn good whilst doing it. Well apart from the small crick in my neck!
It’s also a very stylish interior, with fine seating and a superbly laid out dashboard. It is loaded with just about everything you’d expect in a high-end vehicle, and forgetting the headroom issues for a moment, I would describe it as a pretty classy residence.
However, try as I may, the new coupe just doesn’t work for me. Yes, it has many of the ingredients that make the new Cadillac’s great, but unless you’re somewhat vertically challenged, or just now entering puberty, it’s really not a very comfortable vehicle. So I’m sorry GM, but I think that you need to recall the original design team from their hols, and as they say, get back to the old drawing board.
