Two world debuts mark the highlights from Porsche AG at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show: the 911 GT3 and the Cayenne Diesel. Presented to the public for the first time, these models symbolize the strengths of Porsche’s model range, traditionally and in the future – dynamic performance and superior economy.

The new 911 GT3 is faster, more powerful and more dynamic than ever. Maximum output of the normally-aspirated six-cylinder is now 435 hp, up 20 hp over the former model. Performance improves accordingly, with the new GT3 accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and achieving a top track speed of 312 km/h.

High-tech aerodynamic modifications add to the new look of the GT3 and more than double the car’s downforce. The GT3 also comes for the first time with Porsche Stability Management that can be switched on and off in individual stages.

Porsche’s second model launch in Geneva is the Cayenne Diesel. The combination of Porsche’s dynamic and versatile SUV with an economical, high-torque power unit offers significant advantages on long drives and when towing a trailer.

Displacing three litres, the smooth and refined V6 develops a maximum output of 240 hp, sufficient for a top speed of 214 km/h. Even more remarkable is the engine’s superior torque, peaking at 405 lb-ft at just 2,000 rpm. The Cayenne Diesel accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and performs like a typical Porsche, yet it has a range of up to 1,000 km on a single tank of fuel.

The Cayenne Diesel comes exclusively with Porsche’s six-speed Tiptronic S transmission. Standard Porsche Stability Management (PSM) has been specifically geared to the characteristics of the diesel engine, while its Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive provides an ideal symbiosis of on- and off-road driving qualities.

Note: The 2010 911 GT3 will go on sale in Canada this October for $138,100 but unfortunately the Cayenne Diesel is currently not planned for North American release.
